Why CBD?
You have probably run into a product containing CBD, which is a cannabidiol. You may have seen it marketed in drinks and various products like salves, lotions and chewable gummies. Even major drugstore and grocery store chains have started carrying CBD products in certain states.
But many people still don't really know what CBD is. Is it marijuana? Is it legal? Does it actually work? For what conditions? Is it safe?
CBD stands for cannabidiol, an oil extracted from hemp plants. CBD Hemp plants do NOT contain a significant amount of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the psychoactive component in marijuana. In fact, to be true CBD it should contain less than 0.3% THC (the elements in marijuana that have a psychoactive effect, what people use to get "high")
In the early 2000's, the first CBD strains were developed. This means we are able to grow plants from seeds that genetically do not have THC in them and therefore, growing a CBD hemp plant will produce CBD with less than 0.3% THC.
There are many, many scientific articles and data backed studies concluding that CBD is effective and safe for a variety of health conditions. The FDA has not approved CBD for use in pets because there has not been enough research or time passed to get them fully comfortable. For now, the industry is highly unregulated - which, unfortunately means there are a lot of products out there that are not good quality and therefore, basically ineffective. We take great pride in growing, testing and producing our products to ensure the highest possible quality.
